Rose Wood Academy
Principal's Welcome
As the Head Teacher here at Rose Wood I would like to say a huge thank you to all parents, families and everyone else associated with the school for making it such a great place to be.
Rose Wood is a wonderful, welcoming school and it is a privilege to work here. The school is full of happy and enthusiastic children who are keen to learn and achieve. Its fantastic that our Ofsted report recognises this and judges the school as a good school with Outstanding Early Years Provision and commends the school on its exceptional results that are consistently above the National Average.
We have also been commended for our safe and caring provision across the whole school and the superb positive relationships between staff and pupils.
Our School Mission
Be Kind and REAP the rewards
Our beliefs and aims are underpinned by our school's motto which is 'Be Kind and REAP the rewards' REAP stands for Respect, Empathy, Achievement and Pride. This is the language that we use with children to support the achievement of our aims, to support resolution and conflict and to celebrate and praise children who make the right choices. We celebrate these successes weekly with awards for kindness and for children that demonstrate respect and empathy. We also celebrate children's achievements and things that make the school proud.
The school shares this vision and staff and governors have been working hard to bring about changes to the curriculum and the ways we teach and children learn. We welcome your involvement and feedback and we are looking at new ways to engage with you all. I believe that we can achieve more together as a team around your children.
Our Curriculum
The wider curriculum at Rose Wood is delivered through an enquiry driven approach. This approach is underpinned by our teaching and learning principles as outlined in the ‘Teaching and Learning’ document. The enquiry driven curriculum is designed to be cross-curricular and is underpinned by quality literature.
The curriculum is designed to engage and enthral with aspects that are practical and academic and prepare children for the next stage of their life and education. Each unit of study is driven by an enquiry in the form of a question. This question is the main driver for the core content of the unit.
